How Microsoft Teams facilitates your workday

For our Microsoft teams specialists it’s crystal clear: online tools occupy a permanent place in the working day. What are the newest features of teams and how do they support our workday?

Teams has gained an important position in the field of online meetings over the past year. Many functionalities have been added, among other things to improve user-friendliness. Competitors such as Zoom, for example, work more intuitively, but on the other hand, Teams has many more options besides video calling. It really is a central collaboration platform.

As easy as possible

Microsoft Teams has made the lives of many employees (and employers) a lot easier. Teams is constantly working to simplify operations. For example, a button with which you can easily send an invitation link to participants. Specifically for large groups, he tips: “As a meeting owner, it has recently become possible to switch off the microphone of all participants. Many people unknowingly leave their microphone on, which creates a lot of background noise during a meeting.”

Rise of Webinars

Due to the disappearance of physical events, the Webinar has taken off enormously. Microsoft Teams also wants to put itself on the map with this. “A Webinar is a very nice way to inform your target group regardless of place and time,” says Pranger. “In Teams, this is called a live event, and more and more functionalities are being added to facilitate this. Think of an on-boarding, so that you know who is participating in a Webinar. It is now a great tool to maintain contact, despite the corona measures. But in the future you can easily offer this in addition to a physical meeting.”

New features explained

What can we expect from Teams in the near future? Bart Jan explains a number of functionalities that are expected soon:

The presentation mode. With the new presentation mode you feel like a news reader: you are literally standing in front of your presentation. This makes your presentation a lot more personal.
In the spotlight. You can highlight a specific participant via the spotlight function. The video view of this participant is then pinned to the screen. Good to know: only the meeting owner has the option to put participants in the spotlight.
Dynamic display. As participants begin to speak, start a presentation, or bring in new people, Teams automatically adjusts the screen layout. This intelligently adjusts the static image of a meeting.
Gauging the mood. Do you want to know quickly how your team members think about a certain situation, statement or question? All participants can answer the question directly via a poll in Teams. It is up to you whether the answers remain anonymous and whether the results are immediately visible.
